House of Hope (Transition Home)

Casa de Vida’s House of Hope seeks to confirm the God-given dignity of motherhood by providing transitional housing and guidance to mothers and their babies who are adjusting to independent living.

To express our gratitude for her sincere dedication to young women and their children in our community, the House of Hope is dedicated to one of Casa de Vida’s founders, Sister Peter Damian (shown below).

What is the House of Hope?

The House of Hope is a 6 month residential/transitional housing program for new mothers and their infants (age 6 months and younger at the time of program entry). Residents pay a program fee while living in the House of Hope, and must have employment and childcare arranged prior to the residents move-in date.

Program requirements:

  • Residents must be 18 years or older and may have one infant child (see above). Housing priority will be given to former Casa de Vida Maternity Home residents.
  • TB test prior to admission. Random screenings as needed or required.
  • Drug test prior to admission. Random screenings as needed or required.
  • Background/finger print screening.
  • All residents are required to either be working or in school, prior to entering the House of Hope, and to maintain that status during residency.
  • Work must be a minimum of 30 hours a week.
  • Residents who are unsuccessful in maintaining employment will be referred to JOIN (Job Opportunities in Nevada), Job Connect or other programs that can assist the resident in finding alternative employment and/or volunteer opportunities. Failure to enroll in job training is grounds for eviction form the program.
  • Residents will pay a refundable deposit of $5.00 for the key to their room.
  • Residents must make and keep weekly scheduled appointments with the social worker.
  • Attend Program classes as schedules for House of Hope residents
  • Take a Tour of the House of Hope
